What is Faith Promise?
It's how Central gives to global missions and supports world evangelism. Rather than waiting to respond to individual missionary needs as they arise, believers ask the Lord how much they should give to missions over the next year. They commit to that annual total as "Faith Promise." This commitment makes giving to missions strategic rather than sporadic.
Is there a scriptural basis for Faith Promise giving?
Faith Promise giving is done over a year's time (2 Corinthians 8-10)
Faith Promise giving more than we can afford. (2 Corinthians 8:2-3, 2 Corinthians 9:6-15)
Faith Promise giving reflects our personal commitments. (2 Corinthians 8:5)
Faith Promise giving is optional; although it does clearly demonstrate our love. (Philippians 2:1-4, Luke 6:38, Romans 12:9-10)
Who gives to Faith Promise?
Everyone! Anyone who wants to trust God and be used by God to spread the Good News to the unreached can make a Faith Promise commitment. Children and teens may have less money than adults, but it's important for them to understand systematically giving and living by faith.
What's the relationship between Faith Promise and tithing?
Faith Promise giving is over and beyond a tithe. Tithing is a clear scriptural principle. Tithing recognizes God's ownership over us and all that we have. In practical terms, tithe money runs the local church and its ministries. Faith Promise is a way for us to give specifically to missions. Faith Promise giving expresses our desire that the whole world know what Jesus did for us.
Is this a pledge and will I be notified of my progress?
Your Faith Promise amount is a promise to God, not a pledge to the church. No one will track your progress. Placing your name on the Commitment Card is optional. However, some people do feel like this is a physical expression of their commitment.
How long does my commitment last?
Faith Promise commitments are made once a year during our annual Missions Conference. Your weekly, monthly or annual commitment extends for one year from that time.
How do I decide how much to commit?
Faith Promise is a FAITH commitment. You should prayerfully consider what you believe God wants to give through you. Don't be surprised about what God lays on your heart. Just be obedient. Then, TRUST God to be faithful in His promise to provide.
